Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Founded as the eleventh faculty of ITU in 1983, Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics aims to train aeronautic, astronautic and meteorological engineers with a firm engineering formation enough to carry out domestic and international level scientific research as well as having the contemporary creative, social skills.

Departments

Aeronautical Engineering

ITU Aeronautical Engineering Department conducts research and applied projects in the field of aviation and aeronautics and trains engineers to design and manufacture the new types of aero planes for the aeronautical industry.

Astronautical Engineering

The department aims to train engineers to design and construct manned and unmanned aerial vehicles for civilian and military institutions to be located on Earth’s orbit. They are also trained to compute the mission and route plans, check them continuously to ensure a successful mission.

Meteorological Engineering

Meteorological Engineering Department aims to train engineers to work using the most advanced technologies in the fields of weather analysis and forecast, climate change, solar and wind power, hydrology, hydrometrology, atmospheric physics, risk analysis and disaster management.

Prof. Dr.  Metin Orhan Kaya
Dean

Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics is one of Turkey’s pioneering institutions in its field. Our faculty aims to train aeronautic, astronautic and meteorological engineers with a firm engineering formation enough to carry out domestic and international level scientific research as well as having the contemporary creative, social skills.
