Maritime Faculty

ITU Maritime faculty was founded in 1884 with the Ottoman Turkish name “Leyli Tüccar Kaptan Mektebi” and changed its name many times throughout its history. The current name was given in 1992 and it makes it one of the youngest faculties of ITU. Undergraduate and graduate education is offered in 52 separate buildings. 
ITU Maritime Faculty diplomas are valid internationally and the graduates can easily find jobs in domestic and international fleets. 

Departments

Department of Marine Engineering

All male and female students are required to wear a uniform and they are subject to a hierarchy in line with the customs of Turkish commercial maritime training. Our graduates may work as general directors, administrative directors, technical directors, machine inspectors in maritime companies; as chief engineers in international fleets and also in shipyards, in the fields of technical insurance services, ship repair and maintenance services operation.  

Department of Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering 

All male and female students are required to wear a uniform and they are subject to a hierarchy in line with the customs of Turkish commercial maritime training.

Our graduates may work as general directors, administrative directors, technical directors, deck inspectors and personnel inspectors. They also can work as maritime pilots, marine traffic service operators and unlimited masters in domestic and international fleets.
