Institute of Energy

The institute hosts ten research groups conducting theoretical and applied studies. In some of our thesis studies we have focused on the technical problems of the industry and thus created numerous opportunities for the graduate students by applying industry-sponsored research projects and industry-sponsored research assistant positions.

Along with these, we are expecting a gradual increase in the number of the young researchers with the opening of the Energy Technopark in 2013, which will contribute much to the cooperation between the industry and the university.

The institute was formed by the reshaping of the Nuclear Energy Institute, which had been founded in 1961, since there was the expectation to carry out the teaching and research activities in a wider scope.

"We are expecting a gradual increase in the number of the young researchers with the opening of the Energy Technopark in 2013, which will contribute much to the cooperation between the industry and the university. Besides, the scope of the subjects of the thesis studies has been widened by the participation of academics working in different fields of energy in ITU through the Institute of Energy Program Academic Board.
