MIAM (Centre for Advanced Studies in Music)
MIAM (Centre for Advanced Studies in Music) was established in 1999 by Dr. Erol Üçer. MIAM’s mission is to educate creative, investigative music professionals with leadership qualities; to conduct musical research as well as to provide graduate music education at a modern level, utilizing contemporary educational methods; and to foster the transfer of musical heritage to further generations.
MIAM builds national and international links with similar programs, securing permanent development in the quality of education alongside realizing student exchange programs.
MIAM Masters Program
The areas of concentration are: Composition, Ethnomusicology, Historical Musicology, Music Business and Management (MB&M), Music Theory, Performance, Sound Engineering and Design (SED), Sonic Arts and Conducting. The objective of the program is to train academics, performance artists, sound designers and creative professionals competent enough to play a leading role in the researches in the musical world and the new music itself thanks to their participation in the international forums and academic circles.
MIAM Doctoral Program
The areas of concentration are: Ethnomusicology, Performance, Composition, Sound Engineering and Design and Sonic Arts. The objective of the program is to improve the skills of the students in musical research, musical analysis, and interpretation of music with a wide perspective and the creation of new syntheses. The doctoral program both offers an ideal research platform for those in search of innovative approaches in their area of expertise and keeps its close connections with Turkish national musical culture.
MIAM (Dr.Erol Üçer Müzik İleri Araştırmalar Merkezi – Centre for Advanced Studies in Music) was established in 1999 with a generous grant by Dr. Erol Üçer. The Master’s program opened in November 1999; under a single program heading of Music. The areas of specialty offered are: Performance, Composition, Music Theory, Ethnomusicology, Historical Musicology, Sound Engineering & Design and Music Business & Management.
