İTÜ Career Summit 2015 (İCS’15), organized by İTÜ Career Center together with 35 student clubs, attended by close to 100 companies, started with the opening ceremony held on Monday, 23 February 2015 in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.

‘I am Proud of Our Clubs’

Our Rector Prof. Mehmet Karaca, our academicians, our students and company representatives, particularly the sponsors, attended the ceremony. Our Rector Karaca who made the opening speech, mentioned the importance of career planning and steps to be correctly taken, said that İCS successfully supplied that deficiency. Karaca noted that the summit was actualized through the collaboration of İTÜ Career Center and 35 student clubs and said, “Our students will be on duty in every stage of the event. For me, this is one of the most important parts... I am proud of our clubs, they conduct excellent work, they set an example of the culture of working together.”

‘Well-Trained Human Power is Paramount’

İCS’15 main sponsor Vestel’s CEO Turan Erdoğan started his speech by remarking that he is an İTÜ graduate and said that it is proud to be returning to his alma mater with a career based event. Erdoğan, who remarked that there were no career planning studies in the past, therefore he found today’s students very lucky, recommended them “Either love the job you do or do the job you love.” Erdoğan mentioned that Vestel has 11 thousand workers and 4 billion dollars turnover and half of its 2500 white collar workers are engineers and said “250 of our engineers are from İTÜ and 25 of them are deputy general managers or working in senior positions. We value well-trained human power.” Erdoğan, who quoted Bill Gates’ words “I am the world’s most expensive human resources director,” said, “The better your human resources, the better your company.”

After the speeches, İTÜ Musical Club presented a pleasant concert to the guests. After the music break, companies were given awards. Our Rector Prof. Mehmet Karaca thanked on behalf of our university Arçelik, Turkish Airlines and Mercedes Benz as the first 3 companies providing most internship opportunities to İTÜ students according to 2013-2014 data; Vestel, THY, Arçelik, Şişecam and Aksa for their contributions to the event. After the ceremony, our Rector and students had their memorial photograph taken.
