Accreditation Success from Textile Laboratory

The most comprehensive laboratory for the textile sector

İTÜ Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design’s Textile and Clothing Quality Control and Research Laboratory has been accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) for 4 years until 26.05.2019. The laboratory, which passed 33 tests successfully according to TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 Standard of General Conditions for the Qualification of Experiment and Calibration Laboratories, has become the most comprehensive laboratory accredited as “Experiment Laboratory” in the field of textile.

A major step toward University – Industry collaboration

Textile and Clothing Quality Control and Research Laboratory has been giving test and analysis services in order to meet the requirements of both universities and public and private sector organizations and institutions, based on academic knowledge, experience and expertise, as a unit of the Department of Textile Engineering since 1983.
With this comprehensive accreditation, the measurement infrastructure and measurement reliability of the experiments conducted at the laboratory, traceability of the measurements made by the laboratory and the homogeneity of the measurement studies were verified. Thus, the quality of the services given to both the public institutions and the textile and clothing sector that has major contributions to the country’s economy, production, export and employment has been improved and a major power has been attained in order to provide support to scientific and industrial R&D/PD/D&A processes and an environment and facilities conducive to university-industry collaboration.

Quality policy determined

The quality policy of the laboratory that will provide the services required by the scientific and industrial activities and the requirements of the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard with an awareness of high quality was formed as follows:

• Content, accuracy, reliability and timeliness that will meet the customer expectations
• Keeping laboratory conditions, personnel and related support services up-to-date and having ever-improving features so as to meet the quality standards
• Conducting its studies with an understanding of team work
• Conducting its studies free from all kinds of pressure that will reduce trust, impartially, independently and within the framework of principles of confidentiality
• Providing customer satisfaction at the highest level
• Protecting and improving the laboratory’s reputation and respectability

TÜRKAK, which started giving accreditation services at 2001, became the full member of European co-operation for Accreditation (EA), International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) by 2008 in all accreditation fields subject to mutual recognition agreements.
