“Ford Driving Skills For Life” Training Presented at ITU

 ITU hosted a training program on safe driving called “Ford Driving Skills for Life”, developed by Ford in 2003 in the USA.

The program was hosted by ITU at its Ayazağa Campus and held between 5-7 November with the support of the ITU Foundation. It was the first educational program of this kind presented in Turkey for free. More than 300 ITU students at the age of 18-24 participated in the training program.

The program, which was presented in 4 stages and took 3,5 hours, demonstrated the effects of distracted driving such as sending sms or taking pictures and impaired driving.

Pilot of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Murat Bostancı Visits ITU

One of the most prominent stars of Turkish motor sport, the champion pilot of the Castrol Ford Team Türkiye Murat Bostancı and his team conducted a training session on driving techniques. Murat Bostancı, who is famous for being the first Turk winning the Europe Rully Cup, shared his driving experience with the young drivers. Almost all of the students participating in the program mentioned that the training raised their self-confidence and highly recommended to visit the program to their friends.

As far as car crashes are the number one cause of death of teenagers aged 18-24, the Ford Driving Academy introduced a training program that helps teens develop essential skills in several key areas - speed & space management, vehicle handling, hazard recognition and driver distraction. The program, which was first demonstrated in Turkey, Denmark and Holland, is still running on in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Russia, Spain and the UK.
