ITU Professor Invited to Habitat III

ITU Department of Urban and Regional Planning Prof. Dr. Gülden Erkut was invited to the “Development of Urban Economic Strategies” section by UN-Habitat III Secretariat.

Prof. Dr. Gülden Erkut was invited to by the United Nations Conference (Habitat III) on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development Secretariat to take part in the “Development of Urban Economic Strategies” category that will take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 – 20 October 2016. Erkut, who was chosen from the list of candidates submitted by the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, will contribute to the creation of a New Urban Agenda 2016-2036.
Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, to take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 – 20 October, 2016.
The first Habitat Conference was held in 1976 in Vancouver, Canada, the second one took place in 1996 in Istanbul. The third conference to be held in 2016, based on the Istanbul Declaration” of 1996, will establish a "New Urban Agenda" for the period of 2016-2036 to be implemented in the Sustainable Urban Development.
