Dec 29, 2015

ITU Department of Urban and Regional Planning Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Günay was granted the 2015 Gerd Albers Award by International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISoCaRP).
The winner of the 2015 Gerd Albers Award, which was established in honor of one of the ISoCaRP co-founders Gerd Albers and is given for the best publications by the Society members, is ITU Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Gunay for her article “From squatter upgrading to large scale renewing programmes: housing renewal in Turkey”.

The book edited by Chris Watson and Richard Turkington was prepared by Zeynep Gunay in cooperation with Sule Ozuekren and Kerem Koramaz. In the book, which provides a comparative study of housing renewal policy and practice in nine European countries, the author explores the housing renewal, taking Turkey as an example. Approaches to housing renewal policy are studied through the chronologically presented development of the Historic Peninsula.

A few months ago ISoCaRP, one of the main civil organizations for planners with the motto “Saving for Better Cities”, appointed Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Gunay the Head of the ISoCaRP National Delegation of Turkey.
