Composition by ITU Academic Member Performed in Austria

The composition named “Drip” by Oğuz Usman, Research Assistant of ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory Composition Department, was performed by Austrian Ensemble Platypus (Association of Contemporary Music).

One of the leading Austrian contemporary music associations named “Ensemble Platipus” performed the musical composition “Drip” by Oğuz Usman at a concert in Vienna. The composition, introduced by the group’s conductor Jaime Wolfson, was arranged for flute, clarinet, vioilin, cello and piano. The composition, which was initially to be performed only at a concert in Vienna, was later included in the program of Contemporary Music Festival in Linz, Austria, due to its warm welcome by the audience and was performed by Anton Bruckner University. In addition, the musical composition was included into the repertoire of a newly formed contemporary music association in Japan.

Oğuz Usman started his musical education by taking private lessons as a child and after completing his studies in Istanbul entered the Composition Department of University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Usman, who has been working with the world-renowned composers, is pursuing his doctoral studies at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and working as a Research Assistant at the Composition Department of ITU TMSC.
