The First Project in ITU to Receive Support for Era-Net Smart Grids Plus

“GReSBAS” project developed under the supervision of Prof. Aydoğan Özdemir is the first Project in ITU to receive support in the scope of Era-Net Smart Grids Plus program.

“Grid Responsive Society Through Building Automation Systems-GReSBAS” project under the supervision of ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Department academic member Prof. Aydoğan Özdemir recieved support from Era-Net Smart Grids Plus Program.

The aim of the Project to be supervised by ITU is to ensure active participation of consumers by using building automation system and advanced gamification techniques. The consumers will be encouraged to economize on electricity bills and use energy more effectively by participating in a competitive game environment. The main purpose is to ensure balanced energy consumption and provide substantial financial profit to companies.

The project supervized by ITU research team will be carried out in cooperation with Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores from Protugal and Makel Companies Group from Turkey. The work on the project to be launched on 1 April, 2016 will continue for three years and finally implemented in Istanbul and Portugal. The funding of the project with the total budget of 839.000 Euro will be provided by AB Horizon 2020 and TÜBİTAK.
