ITU Volunteering Society raised awareness through the “No to Obstacles “Project conducted in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center, Ayazağa Campus on Wednesday, March 2. On this special day full of activities, individuals with disabilities waiting to be recognized, felt that disabilities could never be on their ways.

The purpose of the Volunteering Society under Culture and Art Society is to show that there is no barriers in life as well as to spend time with children in need of special education and thus to overcome people’s common prejudices. The Volunteering Society had participated in various events with the same purpose in mind. Visiting special schools for disabled children and visually-disabled children in several parts of Istanbul and having activities with them, organizing lessons from experts for the students who want to learn the sign language, providing various materials for schools for special education in different cities of Turkey and organizing swimming lessons for autistic children are just some of the activities the Club carried out.

On Wednesday, March 2, in the all-day event in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center, art works done by children with disabilities, the choir performance of visually-impaired children and dance performance of mentally-disabled children were immensely appreciated.

No to Obstacles” project organized in collaboration with Tohum Otizm Foundation will continue to raise awareness in different cities of Turkey with the members of ITU Volunteering Society.
