High-School Students’ Successful Projects Are Awarded!

TUBITAK 47. Secondary School Students Research Projects Exhibition and Competition, hosted by ITU, was held.

Having prepared projects in 12 different branches, the high-school students from various schools in Thrace and Istanbul exhibited their creative projects in Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center at Ayazağa Campus on March 22-24.

100 projects prepared in 12 branches took part in the competition where ITU has been the TUBITAK Coordinator of Europe Region for the 5th time. The awards for students ranking the highest were presented by the jury members in the ceremony held in SDKM on Friday, March 25.

Our Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özkol made the opening speech of the ceremony. In his speech, he stressed the importance encouraging students at high schools to study in the fields of basic, social and applied sciences. Özkol stated that he had more hopes for the future seeing 100 finalist projects out of 649 projects. He advised the students not to give up working in order to achieve big goals.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmet Karaca also stated that ITU is a pioneer university in innovation and entrepreneurship.  Karaca finished his speech by saying: “Dear students, you participated in a competition with no losers and you have achieved success by advancing to final. I wish you continued success and embrace you with love.”

Following the opening speech, plaques were presented to jury members, the people who contributed to the preparation of regional exhibition and secondary schools that made the most application for projects in our region.
