GIS Project of Aziz Sancar with Nobel Prize is at ITU

Girls in Stem (GIS) Project is held all across Turkey and led by Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar who honored our country with his worldwide success, 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. We felt the pride of hosting the7th and last event of this Project in our university on May 21, 2016.
100 female 6th class students from different schools in Istanbul attended this event. Under the supervision of GIS team and volunteer female students from ITU, they produced creative works in this event which aims to provide the students with an environment where they will learn by having fun generate ideas by thinking freely and gain experience and scientific curiosity.
Within the event providing motivation and invaluable contribution to STEM program started in our university, GIS team with the program carried out by collaboration of Gökhan Çoşkun, the Director of GIS Project and ITU STEM Working Group, ITU Culture and Arts Association and student clubs exhibited a successful collaboration.
In the prize-giving ceremony held at the end of the program attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, ITU academicians, students, alumni and parents, as a memento of this memorable day, students were awarded with various presents such as tablets, TUBITAK camp participation, Stem books and ITU bags.
