ITU is Among the Best in Landscape Architecture

With the purpose of supporting the development of landscape architecture in our country and placing this field in the agenda of the public, 8Th National Landscape Architecture Awards were granted on National Landscape Architecture Day celebrated on May 13th every year.

On that important day, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cengiz Yıldızcı, the Founding Head of Landscape Department, ITU Faculty of Architecture was granted by Honor Award. Also, the team comprised of Prof. Dr. Hayriye Eşbah Tunçay, a lecturer in Department of Landscape Architecture, who has brought a new perspective to the field of landscape architecture with her project titled “Tuzla Kamil Abdüş Lagoon and the Landscape and Urban Design Project of its Surroundings”, Assoc. Prof. Ebru Erbaş Gürler and a Landscape Master Architect, N. Tuğçe Onuk won the first prize in the category of “Analysis and Planning.” Our university receiving one “Honor Award” and one “Analysis and Planning Award” indicated its assertiveness in the field of landscape architecture as in all departments it offers education.

In the branches of Implemented Project Award, Unimplemented Project Award, Analysis and Planning Award, Communication Award, “Landmark Symbol of City” Award and Honor Award, awards were granted within the 8th National Landscape Architecture Awards. 6 in the branch of implemented projects, 22 in the branch of unimplemented projects, and 6 in the branch of analysis and planning, and 34 project applications in total were submitted for this year’s awards.
