Our Alumni Say “Hello” to the Blue

A great number of our students dressed in elegant white suits took a step to a new life connected with sea and naval structures. ITU Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean alumni lived through an exciting moment of their graduation. During the ceremony held on the 15th of July at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on ITU Ayazaga Campus our students shared their joy with their family members.

The ceremony was attended by our 1982 year alumnus of Naval Architecture and Ocean Faculty and currently Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications Ahmet Arslan, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Dean of Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ergin and numerous guests from maritime and naval sector.

Arslan, who started his speech by congratulating our students and their families, spoke about his student years at ITU. “You are starting a new journey. It will be your job as engineers to solve all the problems arising on your way. Your university has provided you with everything you need for that”, pointed out Minister Arslan. He also added that the sectors of maritime, shipbuilding and logistics have international significance and are especially in need of engineers graduated from ITU.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, who also addressed the students in his speech said “I’m absolutely confident that you will be successful in your career using the experience you gained at ITU. It is doubtless that you will feel the privilege of being an ITU member at every moment of your life. Being an ITU member means staying brave, innovative, being a striving entrepreneur and able to work at any place of the world.”

“Today you have taken your first step to your career, it is a start of a new period in your life. You will shape not only your own but the future of the whole country. The education, self-confidence and self-control you gained at the university will help you to reach your goals,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ergin addressing 63 alumni graduating this year.

During the reception held immediately after the ceremony the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communications Ahmet Arslan, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Dean of Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ergin met with alumni holding degrees with distinction and their families.
