46th IUPAC World Polymer Congress Held in Istanbul

We are very happy and honored to host for Polymer Division Meeting which were organized before of the 46th IUPAC World Polymer Congress, which is the largest international event taking place once in every two years during 90 years related to polymers defined as “molecules composed of many subunits”.


Polymer Division Meeting was organized at ITU Central Classroom Building at Ayazaga Campus between 12-17 July. Teams from Turkey, Europe, Africa, Asia and America have attended to the meeting. During the meeting, general framework of 46th IUPAC World Polymer Congress was specified and also workshops and presentations were executed.


On the other hand, the congress were organized between 17-21 July at Haliç Congress Center after Polymer Division Meeting. The congress was presided by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yağcı who is academic member of Department of Chemistry in ITU Arts and Sciences Faculty. A large number of scientists and researchers presented their academic studies in 10 different sessions held for 3 days in the scope of the event that were organized under the slogan “Bridging Continents and Bridging Molecules”.

What is IUPAC? 

The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) is known by world authorities as which evaluates the developments in chemistry from the academic perspective, negotiates the standards applied in chemistry education globally and coordinates the connection between chemistry and industry. 


The regular member of IUPAC and the chairman of 46th IUPAC World Polymer Congress Prof. Yusuf Yağcı has also noted success of the congress. While he were commenting on the congress, Yağcı said: “It was a very successful event in every aspect. We do our best to promote the name of ITU at scientific events like this.”
