Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Evren Erşahin Receives GWP Award for His Research on Sustainable Wastewater Treatment
Nov 04, 2016

ITU professor Mustafa Evren Erşahin has been given the German Water Partnership (GWP) 2016 Award, which is given to young professionals for outstanding results of studies in the field of sustainable wastewater treatment. Assoc. Prof. Erşahin of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, has been given the award for his research entitled “Anaerobic Dynamic Membrane Bioreactors: An Innovative and Cost-effective Process in Energy-efficient Wastewater Treatment”

In his research, Erşahin investigated the applicability of dynamic membrane (DM) technology in anaerobic dynamic membranes (AnDMB) for the treatment of concentrated wastewaters. Also, Erşahin’s study boasts being the first on the application of DM technology in concentrated wastewater treatment under anaerobic conditions. The study aims to provide deeper insights into DM technology by providing an assessment of the formation of DM layer and filtration performance under different conditions.
