We Hosted The First “Electric Vehicles Summit” in Turkey

Holding the “Electric Vehicles Summit” in Turkey, our Electrical Engineering Club became the first in this area. Ass. Prof. Dr. Ali Fuat Ergenç, the Vice-Dean of Faculty of Electrical and Electronics, made the opening speech of the summit held on December 1st with a great interest of people. Following Ergenç, İbrahim Onur Aydoğan, the Chairman of the Club, and Isa Tekin, the General Coordinator of the summit, made their speeches.

Many companies from the sector of electric vehicles took part in the summit where the young entrepreneurs, Eyüp Ateş and Volkan Gökalp, co-founders of Mekik Motors, shared their experiences with the participants with a presentation on the design of electric vehicles after the first presentation done by Muharrem Akbulut, Product Devleopment Manager of Gersan Inc. Electric Vehicles Summit continued with a presentation of +90 3B Digital Factories on the importance of lightness of electric vehicles and a presentation of Berkan Bayram, the Head of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Federation, on the technology of electric vehicles.

The afternoon session of the summit started with a presentation of authorities in Ford Otosan, one of the strong representatives of automotive sector, on conversion systems in electric vehicles. While our guest from Holand, Rien Verhoeckx, Ecotap Export Manager, conveyed his views on “public transportation in electric vehicles”, the presentation of Burak Onur, Temsa Manager of Technology, was one of the stking moments of the summit.

After the program finalized by the presentation of Berkan Bayram, the head of Turkey Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Platform (TEHAD), on new technologies, some of the participants who answered the questions prepared by ITU Electrical Engineering Club went for a test drive with electric cars allocated by Derindere Motor Vehicles (DMA). Other participants left the summit with various gifts distributed by our club.

Holding this event, Electrical Engineering Club aims to create awareness about electric cars and for this purpose; it plans to hold this summit every year.
