Various products developed in different fields ranging from new paying and security systems in clothing to portable scooter, and from biodegradable artificial vein to hybrid rocket engine are introduced within Turkish Innovation Week, held by Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and with the support of Ministry of Economy, on December 8th, 9th and 10th in Istanbul Congress Center. The examples of how entrepreneurial firms and projects with their innovative business ideas can make life easier are exhibited in the joint stand of our university and ITU Arı Teknokent. In the fair, the innovative projects of Department of Industrial Product Design received a lot of attention.
On the first day of the event, our university addressed the participants with the speech made by Halil Kayıkçı, our senior student from the Department of Aerospace Engineering, in the panel titled “Turks who have Left Marks on the World”. Shown among the “Top Ten Successful Young People in Turkey” by the Association of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs, our student told his success story leading him to space travel in 2017 to the audience in the Hall.

These were our exhibited projects in our stand on Turkey Innovation Week:
ITU Solar Car Team continues its studies with a car design on the usage of solar energy in transportation and the prevention of distance problem of electric vehicles.
ITU Pars Rocket Team:
While designing and producing altitude rockets for scientific purposes, the team also produced the first hybrid rocket engine in Turkey. This team continues to work on improved hybrid rocket motors.
ITU Arı Technology Development Club:
This club aims the students to follow the new technological developments and transform these developments into productions by integrating them into the theoretical knowledge they gained at ITU.
ITU Apis R&D:
Representing our university and country successfully in the field of aviation and aerospace, ITU Apis R&D Team participated in the fair by a winged glider, model satellite, and a drone which is its own production.
ITU Biodegradable Artificial Blood Vessel:
Along with the pre-clinical analysis projects and the academicians’ ongoing project of producing layered biodegradable artificial vessel which imitates the structure of an actual vessel took place in Turkey Innovation Week.
Next horizons which designs customizable autonomous and semi-autonomous robot platform for military or civilian purposes such as exploration, navigation, improvised explosive device scan, handling suspicious objects, and fire-extinguishing drew the attention of the participants in the event.
Mikro P, a small and autonomous robot platform which can be programmed by the users from all ages and levels, is used for software knowledge, project development and various research in the field of electronics.
Smart Mimic is a smart security system which is portable and programmable for its intended purposes and there are sensors to detect movement and measure temperature in this system which can work integrated with smart mobile phones. Those who want to ensure the security of their houses, and also those who travel frequently and are interested in camping will benefit from Smart Mimic, which can be mounted to the items easily thanks to its magnetic structure.
BuyBuddy is a mobile application and a device based on the internet of things (IOT) which prevents the theft of products. Allowing the customers to shop without going to the cash counters, BuyBuddy also serves as a security device.
The platform of Internet of Things (IOT) which are low power consumers, resistant to industrial conditions, integrated with any sensors with hot-swap logic, operating with battery or normal power, produces TARS. Produced by TARSUS Inc., TARS has the features of remote viewing, controlling, measurement, autonomy, data mining and artificial intelligence.
Octopus allows the communities to set up a private social network for themselves and by establishing a strong communication and cooperation among employees, customers, members and suppliers, it increases the efficiency.
One of the projects emerging in the rapidly developing field of enhanced realism, Teleporter enables the users to feel as if they were in the areas of events such as concert, fest, sports while they are using this device, and it also allows the users to communicate with people in the physical space through a live broadcast.
ProjectSeaSong, which prepares evaluation reports by taking the information in intelligent device to work compatible with automobiles and the monitoring of mobile field teams, aims to warn the drivers and technical services by producing maintenance and possible accident reports.
Seen as a very important project in the field of health, 3Z is thought to be a method to be used in the treatment of mild or moderate obstructive sleep apnea. In this project, a new, portable, soundless intraoral apparatus is being produced. It will not disturb the patients because it doesn’t require any surgical intervention and cover the face.
Osteoid, with its leading 3D printers which will shape the future world of design, produces orthopedic products offering personalized treatment opportunities
Getatron, the project of a city convenient, portable and single-person scooter, took part in Innovation Week with bringing an alternative solution to traffic congestion, which is the most important problem of mega cities.
