MossBusters Ranked First Among Turkish Teams In “Quarry Life Awards”

Projects participating in Quarry Life Award are expected to raise awareness on biodiversity and promote exceptional flora and fauna around extraction sites. MossBusters team from ITU ranked first out of 29 Turkish teams participating in the competition. ITU team participated in the competition, which involved 454 projects, with their project topic “naked rock field rehabilitation by using mutualistic life systems”. The team members were Molecular Biology and Genetics students Berke Olcaysoy, Galip Can Güçlü, and Nedim Hacıosmanoglu, who carried out an arduous fieldwork for the competition project in Kovukdere Quarry, Istanbul, throughout the past summer.
