Feb 21, 2017

ITU Promotion Days, organized on the Ayazağa Campus February 16th and 17th, were held with more than 3000 visitors. Students who are preparing for university this year got detailed information about our departments, all 13 of whom were in attendance, in addition to our Turkish Music State Conservatory and our School of Foreign Languages.

High school students who will have to overcome the hurdles needed to get into university, had a chance to meet face to face with academics from the departments they’re interested in. ITU Promotion Days, which attracted great interest not only from prospective students but also from families and educators, gave high school students a chance to see presentations about the university and to attend campus tours.

In addition to our departments, students were given information about our university facilities and life on our campuses at stands set up by the Student Affairs Department, the ITU Erasmus Office, the ITU Dormitory Scholarship Office and the ITU Clubs Association. Prospective students also learned about the entrepreneurship ecosystem at ITU through the ITU Career Center, ITU Ginova and ITU SEED stands.

One of the most important points of the event this year was the intensive use of social media publishing, which brings a new understanding of broadcasting to today's world and allows instant access to large masses.

ITU in Social Media

We took the excitement of ITU Promotion Days to social networks through live broadcasts made via Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram shares, and through Twitter where all of the important moments were shared with our followers. We were also able to reach prospective students who could not attend the event thanks to our #ITUlüolmak and #ITUilerandevumvar hashtags. As part of our simultaneous live broadcasts on Facebook and Instagram, we hosted Student Affairs Dean, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Taptık on February 16 and on the 17th ITU Ginova faculty member Prof. Dr. Şebnem Burnaz and Office Manager Alper Yurttaş, in addition to the Assistant General Manager of ITU ARI Teknokent Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Tunçalp.
