Mar 08, 2017

Following the recent membership of our graduate Prof. Dr. Mehmet Toner to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in the United States, another one of our graduates, Dr. Ali Doğru was also selected as a member of this organization, which is one of the most respected formations of the field in the United States.

Our graduate who have achieved this success with his studies on the subject, "Development of high performance computation in hydrocarbon reservoir simulation", was selected among 84 engineers from different fields for membership in the academy this year. Dr. Doğru also demonstrated his success as one of the seven members who served as guest scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Our alumnus will start his position at the NAE Annual Meeting to be held in Washington, D.C. in October.

Who is Dr. Ali Doğru?

He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in 5 years by successfully completing the Integrated Program of Petroleum Engineering in 1968. Dr. Ali Doğru received his doctorate degree in 1974 from the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Mathematics at the University of Texas - Austin (UT Austin). Our graduate, who has developed computational modeling technology for Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia's national oil company, is also a "fellow" of this company. In addition to the work that has led to his NAE membership, in 2010, he won the John Franklin Carl and World Oil Innovative Thinking awards, recognizing his previous work in the scientific world.

Dr. Ali Doğru has been serving as a guest lecturer in our Department of Mathematics Engineering since 2014.
