Mar 28, 2017

The European Research Council (ERC) Information Day, organized by TÜBİTAK and the European Union Centre Research Office, was held at the Ayazağa Campus. Our Vice Rector in Charge of Research, Dr. Alper Ünal and TÜBİTAK ERC National Contact Point Derya Dönertaş participated in the event as speakers in addition to the many scientists who are thinking about bringing their ideas to life with ERC support. At the meeting, detailed information on the awards and support programs provided by TÜBİTAK for ERC applications and information on ERC calls for 2017-2018 were provided. Scientists were provided information on points that should be paid attention to when writing a proposal in order to get scholarships and support from the council.

Increasing number of studies is important

In speeches made before face-to-face interviews and the question-answer session, our Vice Rector in Charge of Research Prof. Dr. Alper Ünal, noted that an increase in the number of studies is important in terms of our country. Dr. Ünal highlighted the importance of completing the application process in a timely and accurate manner, and that this meeting for informative purposes was a step in this direction.

The other speaker, Derya Dönertaş, stressed that the ERC's main objective was to provide support to successful researchers and teams in high-yield, high-risk, and high-level research, supporting the program's preliminary research, which is difficult to fund with national resources. After her talk, Ms. Dönertaş answered questions about ERC grants from researchers wishing to submit a project proposal.

Calls for the European Research Council under the H2020 "Scientific Excellence" pillar will be opening during the spring and summer of this year.
