Young Inventors Exhibited their Robots at ITURO 2017

ITU Robot Olympics, the biggest robot Olympics in our country, saw hundreds of student-designed robots designed competing this year. An exchange of ideas about robot technology occurred in the events organized within the competition.

At the ITU Robot Olympics (ITURO 2017) organized for the 11th time by the Control and Automation Club this year, our young people competed with the robots they designed and showed their skills in the field of technology.

More than 500 robots competed, designed by middle school, high school, college and university students at the Ayazağa Campus April 6-8.

ITURO had 10 categories this year: Line Follower, Basketball, Micro Sumo, Fire Extinguisher, Stair Climber, Labyrinth, Color Chooser, Self-Balancing, Scenario and Freestyle.

Participants in the competition, which attracted a large number of people from seven to seventy, experienced robot races, panels, seminars and workshops, and various other shows up close.

Among the guests of ITURO, the biggest robot Olympics of our country, were our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Telem Gök Sadıkoğlu, Professor. Dr. Ali Fuat Aydın, Assistant Secretary General Asst. Prof. Dr. Serdar Bilgi, Control and Automation Engineering Department Chairman Prof. Dr. İbrahim Eksin and Turkish Inventors Association (TÜMMİAD) President Bülent Kavaklı.

Within the scope of the event, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation of Turkey and ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department 2002 alum Selçuk Bayraktar gathered and shared their knowledge with a special presentation at the National Technology Meetings seminar organized by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation.

General Coordinator of ITURO 2017 and Control and Automation Engineering Department student Göktuğ Öcal shared his opinion on the organization and stated that this year's Olympiad had benefitted from 10 years of experience in the preparatory process.

Öcal added that, with the number of robots participating in the races, it maintained its title of the most comprehensive robot Olympics in Turkey.
