Our university welcomed the leading names of contemporary architecture at the ICBEST 2017 International Conference on May 15-17.

The ICBEST 2017 Conference was held on May 15-17 at the Faculty of Architecture, sponsored by our university, who according to the 2017 results, is one of the two institutions in Turkey to enter the "QS World Rankings by Subject", in the field of architecture; the QS Wold Rankings are one of the world's most respected university rankings in the world. The Conference which has been held in the four corners of the world in cities like Singapore, Bath, Ottawa, Sydney, Vancouver, and Aachen, since 1994, was held this year at our Architecture Faculty under the leadership of our faculty, Prof. Dr. Aslıhan Tavil, and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Cem Çelik, with organizational support from the Building and Construction Technologies in Architecture and Structural and Earthquake Engineering work groups.

Many issues related to the field of architecture were addressed including the direction that architecture was headed toward in the world, under the subheading Conference on Building Envelope Systems and Technologies under the main topic of Interdisciplinary Perspectives for Future Building Envelopes. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca's started the event with his opening speech which focused on the success of our university in architecture; the conference continued with panels, private sessions, and student workshops.

ICBEST 2017 hosted Beatrice Gianni

Also taking part in the conference was architect Beatrice Gianni, of Studio Fuksas, which is headed by Massimiliano Fuksas and his wife, Doriana Fuksas. Gianni shared details about their work as a team with the spectators. Our guest presented a cross-section of projects from urban planning to airports, from cultural centers to concert halls, from congress centers to offices, and from interior spaces to design collections, sharing important information on over 600 projects that they have carried out. Noting that, they have received numerous international awards from different continents of the world from Europe to Australia, Gianni stated that he believed they would continue to produce successful work.
