ITU students pedal with Support from the Ministry

ITU students have been given bicycles within the scope of the "Healthy Nutrition and Active Life Program" of the Ministry of Health’s "Increasing Physical Activity Project". The "White Bike Tour" organized by the Clubs Association was held at the Ayazağa Campus of the University as part of the free bicycle distribution to Istanbul Technical University (ITU) student clubs and sports clubs. The event where 300 bicycles were handed out was attended by ITU Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Ali Fuat Aydın, Secretary General, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yazgan, Club Representatives and ITU students.

ITU Rector, Prof. Dr. Karaca stated that bicycle distribution is part of the Green Campus studies, looking over the bicycles to be distributed before the event.

Dr. Karaca discussed the following with students: importance of bicycle use on the 247 hectare greenery of the ITU campus, the role of the students in the spread of bicycle use, the new bicycle routes and safety measures to be taken against possible hazards. Afterwards, the "Pedal for Health" themed white bicycles were delivered to riders which will be providing great convenience to students in their university transportation.

The White Bike Tour started in front of ITU Rectorate building with attendance by Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Ali Fuat Aydın, Deputy Secretary General Asst. Prof. Dr. Serdar Bilgi, and approximately 200 students.

Riders who followed a path through the university's wooded roads passing Arı Road, Sports Road, Bedri Karafakioğlu Street and Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center respectively ending in front of the rectorate building. The White Bicycle Tour, lasting about 3 km long provided enjoyable moments, ending with a collective memorial photograph.
