ITU Hosts the STEM Project: Blue Generation Science School

ITU hosted the "Blue Generation Science School" project, run by the Governorship of Istanbul. Vasip Şahin, the Governor of Istanbul, and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca awarded certificates to the program participants.

Within the scope of the Blue Generation Science School Project, 160 successful students selected from high school in Istanbul were trained in science at our university. The certificates of the students who attended the training were presented by Istanbul Governor Vasip Şahin and our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca.

Vasip Şahin, Governor of Istanbul, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, faculty who taught during the project and many students participated in the ceremony at the Governor’s Office. The second project, initiated by the Governorship of Istanbul in 2016, was completed this year at the Maslak Campus of our University with the participation of a total of 160 students in the first and second grade of high school. 80 male and 80 female students were trained in the science school which was composed of 2 periods of 12 days.

"STEM training will make the program even more colorful"

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, speaking at the talk, invited the students who participated in the project to study at ITU. Karaca said "as a university, we take great care in participating in such social responsibility projects. It was very important for us to take part in this project. I would like to thank our Governor for giving us this opportunity. In the years to come, we will make the program even more colorful with art and STEM education. You are all specially selected students. Your next step will be a little harder, you will attend university. We all look forward to your attendance at the technical university. Lastly, I would like to thank the Provincial National Education Directorate, the Metropolitan Municipality and all those who contributed to the project. "

Following Governor Vasip Şahin’s speech, students were given certificates. The ceremony ended with a commemorative photo of the students.
