Our BAP unit has been renewed in line with the strategies of our university. First of all, we would like to thank you for your understanding during this time. Our vision for the new era is to keep the BAP mechanism, which will support the increase of our research activity in line with global and national targets for the future, as a continuation of our deeply rooted institution and principles that guide the developments in society, science and technology in our country. This dynamic structure can be used to create R & D and innovation, to increase knowledge and value production, to increase our researchers' national and international presence and achievements, to create a good start on a solid basis for taking part in larger projects. In this context, our BAP unit is serving to you with the support of your valuable resources thanks to innovations in the form and content that will enable us to carry out systematic and simultaneous work together and facilitate project application and execution processes.

In evaluating the BAP applications, the academic performance of the project will be taken into account along with the project content. Through this performance-based system, a funding system was established to provide targeted R & D outputs. In this scope, the project types are defined below:

• Guided / Priority Area Research Projects: These projects are proposed by the commission considering the priority areas determined by the Supreme Council of Science and Technology and supported with a higher budget compared to other support programs in the priority areas deemed appropriate by the Rector. In this context, at least two centers and multi-disciplinary applications are preferred. Researchers who have successfully completed at least one project for TÜBİTAK 1001, 1003, EU and similar can apply for this type of project. Within this project, machinery-equipment, consumables, service procurement, land studies and conference participation support will be provided.

• General Research Projects: Projects that include individual or interdisciplinary scientific research and development activities of researchers who have completed their Ph.D. or proficiency in arts education with Istanbul Technical University faculty members. Within these projects, machinery-equipment, consumables, service procurement, field work and conference attendance support will be provided.

• Graduate Thesis Projects: Graduate thesis research projects carried out with the students of the lecturer who are thesis supervisors. Within these projects, machinery-equipment, consumables, service procurement, field work and conference attendance support will be provided.

• Complementary Support Projects: These projects are designed to increase the added value creation potential of scientific research projects which are initiated by fund support from national or international institutions other than our university and which are carried out by the researchers of our university. This type of project is aimed at raising the efficiency of the project rather than the remedy of deficiencies in the budget of an ongoing project.

• Research Startup Support Projects: Research start support given to our faculty members who have been appointed as "assistant professor" to our university within the last year. Within this project, machinery-equipment, consumables, service procurement, land studies and conference participation support will be provided.

• International Research Cooperation Projects (Link-2): Research projects in which researchers from universities will conduct research in collaboration with researchers at internationally recognized and world-leading universities or research centers. Within the scope of this project, $ 1,500 monthly and round-trip travel expenses are covered. Project support is given up to 3 months.

The planned opening date for the application system for project types mentioned above is May.
