İTÜ Ranks first among Technical Universities in Turkey

Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) announced the university rankings for 2020. İTÜ ranked first among technical universities in Turkey and increased its place in ARWU.

Based in China, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), one of the independent ranking organizations rannounced university rankings, which is and prepared by ShangaiRanking Consultancy. Taking into consideration  1800 higher education institutions worldwide and selecting "Top 1000" universities by Clarivate Analytics, rankings are evaluated according to criteria such as;  the number of highly cited researchers in their articles, the number of articles published in Nature & Science journals, the total number of articles indexed in the "Science Citation Index - Expanded" and "Social Sciences Citation Index", and each university’s own performance. According to the 2020 rankings, following the universities with Faculty of Medicine, ITU shared  second place with Hacettepe University, and rakend first among technical universities in Turkey. 

Our ranking among the top 1000 has risen compared to the previous years

In the URAP world ranking held this year, ITU, which was placed in the 601-700 band among the top 1000 universities in the world, ranked 801-900 in ARWU 2019 and 701-800 in ARWU 2018. From Turkey it is increasing the number of universities included in the list each year. This year, 11 universities from Turkey were ranked in Top 1000 list.The follownig universities are ranked in the list as follows: Istanbul University 401-500, Hacettepe University 601-700, Dokuz Eylül University and Ege University 701-800, Ankara University, İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University 801-900, Erciyes University, Gazi University and Marmara University 901-1000.
