İTÜ Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department senior student Onur Nurtan won the first place among 498 projects in the university category of the 7th Başakşehir Living Lab Innovation Competition with his senior project.

Onur Nurtan, who attended the competition with his senior project titled “Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Supported MEMS-Based Modular Analysis System for Use in the Food and Agriculture Sectors”, said the following about the project and his plans for the future:

“For us engineer candidates, it is very precious to carry out R&D work as an undergraduate student. Istanbul Technical University always encourages developing projects with its laboratory facilities and academicians who support students. In this regard, I would like to thank my school, my valuable professors and my friends who contributed to the project. I will continue to produce and develop patentable projects with high added value that can represent our country in the international arena and to perform academic studies for this purpose.”

Our faculty member and the project’s advisor Prof. Dr. Levent Trabzon congratulated his student and his project partners Nagihan Okutan Arslan and Nazım Can Önder and said, “For the last five years we became successful in many competitions with our undergraduate students at MEMS R&D Center and nanoGARAGE. High quality work of undergraduate students within the R&D ecosystem show how necessary and important ‘Undergraduate R&D’ is.”

We congratulate our student and our faculty member and wish them continued success.
