Hürriyet Kitap Sanat Eki [Hürriyet Book and Art Supplement] evaluated the exhibitions opened in 2020 by a jury of 12 art writers. As a result of the scoring made according to the jury’s selections, our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erek’s work of art was chosen the 3rd best exhibition of the year.

Commenting on his work, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erek said, “After Bochum and Berlin, it was a unique experience to exhibit a new step of the project in Arter, in Istanbul. Of course it has a great importance to have it in Istanbul, as this allows some friends, colleagues from İTÜ, students and professors to experience the work as well. I think the work gives an opportunity for reminding and perception from different angles of the Great Altar of Pergamon, which was reproduced out of its pieces taken from Turkey to Germany with some additions. Particularly at the online talks organized by Arter’s Learning Program within the context of the exhibition, there was broad participation to presentations by Prof. Can Bilsel, Birgül Oğuz, Prof. Edhem Eldem, Prof. Alper Maral and a rich exchange of ideas was made."

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erek’s sounding architecture work ‘Bergama Stereotip’, which brings together diverse disciplines such as sound, music, architecture and visual arts, is about the great altar taken from Bergama to Berlin. The ‘Bergama Stereotip’ version at Arter of the work, exhibited first at Germany’s major modern art museum Hamburger Bahnhof under the name ‘Bergama Stereo’, ended on December 30th.

We congratulate our faculty member and wish him continued success.
